November 5th is Bonfire Night and for the first time in aaages was on a Saturday night. Camden Town resonated with bangs and squeal all night long, but was this fun harmful to people? In the aftermath of Bonfire Night we can see reports country wide of accidents and deaths and can only hope that Camden Folk were not harmed.

Camden Town Fireworks Safety
In Lewes last night there were 40,000 attendees and 15 people were arrested after causing mayhem- general drunken behaviour was the most common cause.
The issues really were less about anti asocial behaviour and more about people injuring themselves, and Lewes saw 170 people receiving first aid with 22 being taken to hospital.
Though Lewes was particularly high in incidents, this was seen reflected throughout UK cities, and there are concerns that next week- when the Lord Mayor has his fireworks show- there may be repeated incidents. This is in part to the fact that fireworks will be very reduced in the coming week- just remember if you are going to participate to do it safely and wear protective gloves.
