We all owe a lot to the men and women of the police force as they help keep our streets safe and look after us in times of trouble. Camden Council has just invested in 16 more roles for police in the borough, with positions to be filled from April 2012.

The police are intended to patrol the borough more frequently and concentrate on known violent hotspots.
Councillor Abdul Hai, Cabinet Member for Community Safety said: "We want to invest in a visible street presence in Camden Town as this is important to provide reassurance to all our different communities and businesses at a time of turbulence and cuts by the government. These brand new officers will provide a visible deterrent to crime and anti-social behaviour at a time when police numbers are being reduced across London. It will also ensure that when incidents occur, there are officers present with the appropriate powers to deal with them."
I think this is great as I definitely notice that I feel safer when I'm aware of a strong police presence and in the run up the London 2012 Olympics we want the borough to be as safe and as well maintained as it can be.
Do you think we needed more, or do you think 16 are not enough- let us know below!
