More Camden pupils get secondary school preference

More Camden young people got their secondary school preference this year.

Sixty-seven per cent of Camden parents were offered their child's first school preference – an improvement of 5% from last year.

A further 18% have been offered their second preference. Every local applicant received an offer of a secondary school place for September 2013.

A total of 1457 students applied for a school place for the 2013/ 2014 academic year.

Councillor Angela Mason, Cabinet member for children, said: "We have been able to offer a secondary school place to every child that has applied, which I am very pleased about. And, that we can offer 67% of young people their first preference of school is an excellent result."

"The admissions team offers advice about which schools have vacancies or short waiting lists and can meet with parents when they need more help to find a school, and I would urge parents who would like to discuss their children's offer to contact them."

The admissions team wrote to parents on Friday, March 1 advising of the school where their child had been offered a place.
