Turn off your bus engine in Camden- or get fined by the council

It's a personal bugbear of mine the amount of buses that sit idly in their bus lanes going nowhere whilst the drivers have a chat. Hello, I'm late- isn't that what the station is for? It also bugs Camden council but on a more eco note.

To help promote better air quality in the borough drivers can b fined up to £80 if they leave their engine idling for over 4 minutes, I'm not sure how they'll monitor this exactly, but it seems like a good start.

Originally they just asked drivers to turn their engines off, but this proved unsuccessful, so it's the stick not the carrot that's coming out now.

Cllr Sean Birch, Cabinet Member for Sustainability and Transport said: "We are committed to improving air quality for the benefit of our residents and the many thousands of people who pass through Camden on a daily basis, and using enforcement action was a last resort.

Do you see this working, or will this just fine innocent companies for no reason?
