Free flip flops to be handed out to drunken Camden partygoers

I love to party, but I hate going home. Not just because I’m tired, but because my feet ache from heels. It would be lovely if there was some way to have flats on me the whole time- but for a limited time only Camden Council is providing flip flops to weary partygoers. Yes, for real!

This is part of a scheme being trialled to stop people getting injured on their way home from a night out, and lollipops, tea and coffee will also be offered to the inebriated.

The trial is running from now till the New Year, and the idea is to see if adopting these methods lowers the aggressiveness and mishaps of people on their way home.

Abdul Hai, Camden's Cabinet member for community safety, said: “We are spending just a few hundred pounds each weekend to ensure that people who come to our area can enjoy themselves and get home safely.”

The scheme will run from a tent set up especially for this, on Friday and Saturday nights from 8.30pm to 4am.
