Camden Snooker Club: A hidden treasure

Wander down Delancey Street and you’d be excused for not noticing Camden Snooker Club. A small sign on a door next to the local pub there proclaims what it does, and once you’ve been buzzed inside you realize what a world away it is from the bustle of outside life.

With the noise volume at a low hum, the club is huge with over eight full size snooker tables and one American Pool table inside. Though they have no liquor license you are allowed to bring in drinks from the next door pub and they have a very cheap food menu- even if you think you might just be buying microwaved chips and a renamed Macci D’s burger.

The prices are incredibly low- £1 per person if you’re a non member and £6 for a table, no matter how many people (though the optimum number is obviously two). The club was different from any snooker club I’ve ever been to – and not just because Stephen Hendry and John Virgo have played here. It was a strange quiet atmosphere, with no music or radio, and everyone was hushed and peering over their tables, taking it very seriously,

A good place to go to get in some practice, just expect to be stared at if you laugh to loud.

I quite liked this place! It's a good way to spend an evening, and it's great that you can bring in drinks from the pub next door. You don't get many places this cheap nowadays.
