The Olympics are getting nearer, but most people haven’t started counting down the days just yet. That’s not the case for Camden schoolchildren who have just undertaken a walk to school relay event.

Cavendish Primary school on the Big Wow
The children took the route that covered the Regent’s Canal from Camden Lock, and they did this as part of the Big WoW celebration of International Walk to School Month.
The Big Wow (Walk Once a Week) is an annual event that works in conjunction with the Walk to School Month. This year’s theme was the 2012 Olympics, which is why the walk to school incorporated a relay event that mimicked the idea of the Olympic Torch- and why the kids were greeted by the a life size Strider mascot and former Commonwealth and Olympic Games runner John Greatrex on completion of the walk.
The relay will pass through each London borough, finishing in Greenwich on the 31st October.
I love how much spirit the kids of Camden have, and think this was a great way to showcase the walk to school month- encouraging physical activity in young people is always a good thing,
