I love the Purple Turtle in Camden! It is so easygoing and alternative that anyone can feel at home their and not run into the normal barriers one might feel when talking to strangers of vastly different dress sense. The decor of vintage fetish equipment around the walls makes for a great ice breaker and there table football, which take me back to feel like a teenager when I'm there. They run a live DJ club night every weekend, which is great fun — everyone is out for a good time — and live bands most other nights of the week. It's a good place to catch more alternative acts both before and after they start to break through. The drinks won't break the bank and the late licence comes in handy, since I rarely find I want to leave once there.

The purple turtle seems to effortlessly combine the funk of camden with a subtle coolness that feels far away from the 'tryhard' crowds.
This place always seems to be mostly people out for a good night, and there to appreciate the music - it caters really well for the alt' crowd.
Drinks aren't too pricey when compared with other late night establishments and the doormen come with minimum angst.
I'd recommend it for one of those nights where you aren't sure where to go - so long as your crowd like live music you're almost guaranteed a good one here.
