I swung by the blues kitchen last night at the start of my evening, merely out of convenience for a chum who'd been at the zoo. I've had great nights here before but have often been frustrated by the frantic squeeze on the dance floor. Last night the atmosphere in there was great. Perhaps the sunshine has really brought the best out in everyone. The staff were so friendly and chatty it was almost like being in a little pub. The punters too were unusually charming. The out-of-towners were really impressed with the decor and the music - which I'd grown to overlook. The only thing that stops me coming back more is the price of the drinks, though no higher than you'd expect from a specialst bar in London. Just make sure you try some of the Bourbon to make it worth it.

The Blues Kitchen is a vibrant bar, live music venue and restaurant that brings blues, bourbon and soul food-inspired dishes to Camden.
