Suspects believed to have been involved in a business robbery in Camden were arrested on January 12 after eight warrents were executed across London. These warrants followed extensive enquiries carried out by officers from the Camden Town Team, Operation Hercules and Safer Transport Team. The warrants were a great success with six males aged between 15-17 years being arrested and later charged on suspicion of robbery. On January 3, at about 12:00 hours, a group of males entered a commercial address on Camden High Street, NW1. The group proceeded to pull electrical items off the display stands and then run out of the shop. Several items were stolen in the robbery.
The suspects intimidated staff and customers and damaged the display stands when stealing the property.
All six suspects appeared at Highbury Corner Youth Court on Monday, January 14, two were remanded in custody and four were bailed.Five of the suspects will appear at Wimbledon Youth Court on January 29 for sentencing and one will appear at Highbury Youth Court on January 31.Officers are currently investigating other offences which the men may have also been involved in.
Inspector Ford from the Camden Town Team said: "This type of crime is becoming increasingly popular amongst some people. The impact on the businesses, their staff and customers cannot be underestimated. Camden Police, the Local Authority and Business Partners will not tolerate this type of offending. By executing these warrants and arresting those concerned my officers are sending out the strongest message possible that Camden is not a Borough where offences of this type will go unpunished."
